I don't enjoy fighting random rouges when I leave to level up, so what level should I train Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw up to before I leave the forest?

Well, you have to lv up on the journey because the cats you recruit at the start are about lv 15, but I'd be around lv 20.

You can do any, but if you have left it forever, then when you get to the top Thunderpath, heal by Leafpool and you can keep training. Oops! Leafpaw. If you left to go to the Sun-drown-place, then battle the rogues and then kee healing at a switch spot.

If you're talking about when you leave to go to Sun-Drown-Place, I normally train up to level 18ish, then when you recruit your cats, there won't be too big a gap. After that, you'll have to level up the way, so just stay by a switch spot to train. If you've left the forest forever...you can do what Wolfpaw said...*hasn't got to that part yet*
