I have decided to move over the documentaries from my weekly thread over to this one. This allows me to post documentaries when i please and not be constricted by a time line which will hopefully allow me to keep this going for much longer and partially the reason why i stopped doing the weekly documentaries and weekly news. (Monthly news would perhaps be better but the whole process would become quite strenuous) I will also be posting the complete documentaries and even the complete series (the only thing that differs from my last thread currently is that there will be the complete history of England after 1066. Instead of the first part of the series of 6 (i think) that where over an hour each.)
This is a thread where i will post my favorite documentaries
This was a very good documentary about King George V (5th) and Queen Mary's son John, a prince long forgotten in the eyes of the public. What at first appears to be a story of an epileptic child who is shut away by his parents turns into a story of parents trying to do what is best for their child in a time when having a family member who was epileptic was a disgrace to the family. This happened to be at a time when Britain and her commonwealth needed the monarchy more then ever in face of a catastrophic conflict. (World War 1)
This documentary is about the last day of World War 1 and the soldiers who died during the last 11 hours of the war (The last commonwealth soldier killed was Canadian soldier George Lawerence Price was the last Commonwealth soldier to die (he died at 10:58 am, 2 minutes before the armistice), the last Allied soldier to die however was American gunner Henry Gunther who's battle hungry generals where eager to get as much fighting in before the war ended (as the U.S. entered very late and made very costly mistakes in the few months they where in the war. the same mistakes made by the allies earlier in the war.) he died about 60 seconds before the war ended. The last soldier to die in the great war however was a German officer Lieutenant Thomas who was walking toward American soldiers who where unaware of the armistice (This was after hostilities had stopped, and after 11 am) to inform them that there was bedding in the house him and other German troops had been using and that it was now available to them when he was killed. The documentary also talks about other groups in action on the last day of the war and how the armistice was signed.

Part 6 - - I do not personally agree with the man in this part, however the history is still good and he is (luckily) easy to ignore. I could make a whole thread on what i found wrong with the man in this episode, firstly losing Ireland (not even all of Ireland) is not a considerable loss to an Empire that had the second largest country in the world (Canada) and a freaking continent (Australia). He also goes out of his way to villanize the royals in this episode stating things that are far from true, and that are taken out of context. Also the commentator said at one point 'he knew if this law was pushed through, everything including himself would be swept away' but if everything would be swept away would it not have been the right thing to turn down the law? He blasts George V for defusing a naval strike and then hiding the evidence when he should be rewarded. The fact that he hid it was most likely so the political parties could take credit for it which was all well and good for them. If you even look at the Queens Diamond Jubilee ceremony you will see there is still a huge affection for the queen and her family (though people hate Camilla they hate Charles less and i must say the media villanizes him more then he deserves as he gives money to charities quite frequently.) much of what this man says is true speculation and i would only take it half-hearted.
Complete documentary series on Englands Kings & Queens as well as the history of England, may contain suggestive themes.

This week i have decided to put aside the England history documentary in favour of a Yugoslav war documentary. Before we resume i should warn you this movie is EXTREMELY DISTURBING AND DOES CONTAIN VIOLENCE AND DEATH, i have cleared the documentary with admin so it is ok to put up as long as the warning is placed. Side note: The documentary is in Slovenian however it has English subtitles.
Documentary on perhaps the greatest airplane never to be released the Avro Arrow, which unfortunately was canceled by the Canadian government. Of course the geniuses behind the Arrow did not go to waste they where quickly gobbled up by the U.S. for their space program. 10 years later those behind the Arrow would be crucial in landing the first man on the moon. Politics lead to the cancellation the conservative government has clearly changed little from 1959 to 2013, Diefenbaker to Harper i see no different all greedy corrupt politicians who would rather see a police state then a free country. And still they get a majority after suppressing the greatest technology ever created by Canada. (and still technologically superior to jets on the market today.) It's a shame the Conservatives are allowed to survive and thrive.
Diefenbaker got a majority in 1958, Harper 2011. Harper was born the same year the Avro Arrow was canceled. Besides this Diefenbaker was a decent prime minister did a lot for aboriginal rights and appointed the first women to the senate, however this crime is unforgivable.
Life and times of the greatest hockey player ever. The trials that Wayne Gretzky faced were great, however he came out on top and became the best hockey player in NHL history.
Documentary about the broad street bullies who with their on ice (and off) antics changed the image of hockey forever. CAUTION: Viewer discretion advised.
Mats Sundin the greatest Maple Leaf first European born captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and first European to be drafted first overall.

Today i will be showing Michael Moore's documentary Bowling for Columbine, those of you interested in the political discussion thread and saw my post about us supported dictators can turn to the 26:00 minute mark for a list of dictators supported by the U.S. and how many people where killed because of it. Besides that the rest of the documentary is about looking into America's obsession with guns, how easy it is to get a gun, and a look into gun owner's perspectives.
