I'M FALLING DOWN INTO MY SHADOW
I'M HOLDING MY BREATH.
I'M HOLDING MY BREATH.
I slipped out of camp, leaving resting souls behind me. The night was silent, no mice scurrying about, no birds chirping. Silence was broken as I heard an owl call out. Whoo, whoo. The call ended. Yet, I didn't want it to end. Though it was a tad bit annoying, it was also soothing. Something I wanted to hold, what am I saying? Going on about a owl's call? Their dangerous to kits, they could just snatch them up. I shuddered at the thought of losing a precious kit. What will I do now? I do suppose I could go somewhere to think... Perhaps a night stroll through the territory? Maybe so... The oak tree? No... Somewhere more peaceful. I do not want to hear the rustling of leaves when I'm trying to think. The river? Perhaps, the water is calming. I pick up my pace from a slow walk to a steady trot. I didn't have all night, I needed to be back before sunrise. The moon hung over my head, in it's cresent stage. That was my most favorite stage. It just looked so beautiful. My ear twisted to the right as I heard a faint rustling. 'Hmm... What this? A juicy piece of prey getting a night time snack?' I purred and focused my gaze on the creture. Taking a breath of the cold air, I recognized the scent of a rabbit. A small one, but a rabbit. But... I'm not here to eat, besides, it against the warrior code to feed yourself before your clanmates. I ignored the plump rabbit and contiued towards the river. I soon started to hear the sound of the water moving. A cat-like smile spread across my face. Finally, peace. I lept towards the river and stopped at the grassy bank edge. I stone was surfaced near the middle of the river. I lept towards with no trouble. My paws landed on the cold, bare stone. I quickly sat down and closed my eyes. All I could hear was the water. I wrapped my tail around my paws a let out a relieved sigh. My soul sound.
