What recent things in the news are you concerned with?

So The last conversation thread I made revolved around just around political talking, This one goes to just everything, And theres always news going on so theres always going to be something to talk about.

So what have you heard on the news that concerns you? maybe you want to see the views of other members? 

Not going to be a boring chat just talk about things

Some starters~

1.

So Some things that I've read recently is the schools in the same state of sandy hook (The school that that crazy gunman killed little innocent kids at) have decided to change the lockdown when a gunman arrives from hiding in rooms with a lock down to asking kids and teachers to fight back.
The idea is to have teachers secretly armed with at least a pocket knife in their room, if a gunman comes it (passing the locked doors) Small kids are told to throw little items to distract the man while the teacher tries to overwhelm the man.(while the kids get out to get other adults)
Older kids from middle school to high school are told to do the same but help the teacher by again overwhelming him and also using supplies they have (because you know, we have more carry arounds, a heavy book would help) 
Others say schools should just have a officer assigned to each.

So do you think its a good idea to have teachers both armed and kids trained to fight? It's a choice to go through this kind of training to prepare.

Just to get to the point on this one, everybody knows the middle east has been fighting since men could pick up a stick, The Us army is there trying to settle everything and just doing what they are told,

Do you think we should take our boys out or let them "Help" Reaching a compromise?

I personally think aid is great to most of the countries but not our life, we spend to much time in other peoples mess instead of solving out our own.I think we need our boys to come home instead of sending them off.Helping the fighting way might look good in the presidents eyes but overdoing it shouldn't

So this group of people in Japan are taking some of the worlds deadlyiest, human disorienting sickness and combining it into some super mega killer.(I dont know all of them but they have some animal ones like bird flu, other long term flus and rabies)

They are doing this because they hope to find cures for all of them at once and make sure we are prepared for future deadly threats.

Now I just think thats stupid, People have messed this up before spread something bad, combining them changes that one main sickness, You have a hole new problem, Whats to say the cure you make cant rid that one disease but only all of them together? I just think they should take them all on without trying to combine them, Study what you have and work on that, not go ahead and try to create the next human killer

1. Training kids sounds good I guess... I don't really know too much about this subject so I guess my view might change...

Well, one thing I saw was pretty interesting (not really a debate but interesting nevertheless) was that NASA was going to grow plants on the moon by 2015. www.extremetech.com/extreme/171975-nasa-teams-with-google-to-grow-plants-on-the-moon-by-2015-to-create-habitable-environment

Thats amazing, Google went from just a little search site to so much more teaming with Nasa.I heard they had a little cut back on how much money they could use, One of the very popular Nasa research bases in Texas was shut down a while ago because of that.

Wonder if we'll actually be up there living one day, I've read people are already working on a human teleporter, Maybe if that goes well it'll be within a few years

Ok I got a bunch for the first 2 but for the 3rd one I cant find the main article I read that talked about them adding Rodents sickness and the list it gave of what exactly they used (Probably even some they wont talk about im sure) I did find the top two they put together (It's just kinda old, I did read that a while ago) 

If you really wanted to find that one its in yahoos odd news I'm pretty sure

1. The training thing doesn't sound too bad, but personally I would only want them to do it for middle-school age kids and above. It could be really dangerous and it could make the gunman shoot them when he wouldn't otherwise. I just think it's sad that they're considering training children to fight in the first place.

From looking at Wikipedia's references i found this article, i feel any talk of apocalypse or anything is very silly and while this research could have potential drawbacks it advances our knowledge on how virus' are transmitted which could lead to research making us more resilient against them.

2.Yeah, the soldiers should leave. I mean, the U.S. is already in a heck of a load of debt (It's 17 trillion from what I've read) So why fight a war that we can't afford and that has nothing to do with us?

Well Just think about it for a moment, A random guy just doesn't want to shoot up a school one day, He has a reason or a target.With some random kid hitting you in the middle of a thought to be kill is just off putting.It's like if someone throws a pencil at you in class, Would you turn around and down slap who ever you think did it just like that, or would you be like "Oh Why did you do that?" Just because you didnt expect it.

I think it would Be even least expected for a little kid to fight back, "Like taking candy from a baby" Really seems like the right statement just for that.

It is really sad it has come to the point where we have to train our future parents and leaders into fighting for there life's over this mess but I guess thats just how its gotta be, One kid is better then hole classes like poor Sandy Hook.

And America really is just the most terrified, paranoid country there is, don't mean any offense but in any war going on, any country talking about us, Or even a simple knife that drops, I feel like we make a new law or training method over just the slightest word/doing like someones going to nuke us.

I personally dread having to stand by the door to prepare a "killing stab" through the throat with my pencil.

For all this gun mess Honestly I just have to point the finger at the parents, It's getting to the point where 15-16's and even my age of people are having kids like its a party favor, when they haven't even matured enough to take a college test

But thats like a hole other rant for another time, I think I over did that point ^^"

1.Not really, I mean look at rabies that crazes Animals to the breaking point, And then adding a long term sickness like some fungus types, Then adding that to a strong effective Disease.What would you get of that all came together and did work? It might sounds stupid and I think the hole "braiiiins" thing is just stupid but someone could come up with that kind of new virus with the right tect.

It does really sound dumb (Exactly how I feel defending it), A little rot and ruin zombie book I found really cool to read went into such Scientific detail on how it was created I could completely see it

Though I hope something itn't that stupid

oh Just as a scrolled over the post I remembered Mandela, Did you guys hear about all those world leader (Read it was 100+ of them from US to japan) gathering to watch and give speeches about him? Now that much heart warming

If it sounds dumb defending it, chances are it is dumb. I would like a name for the book or something, many books i have read on this matter (or have had friends read and quote when i say something like that is ridiculous) sound like they are making a good case for zombies (or really whatever the book is trying to sell me on) but when researching it you find out what they are saying is not really plausible.

All the scientists are doing is combining the H1N1 virus with a more deadly harder to pass on virus and observing how it comes together and spreads amongst animals, if thats as far as they go i can see very little downside to this kind of research. (Both strains of bird flu)

Let's see if we can get something started on this after quite a while

The (mostly recent) news I've been reading are the bunch below, maybe some of you guys can give opinions on what you think ?

1.Malaysia airlines flight 370- Its not surprising, its been on the news just about everyday, A flight heading from Malaysia to Chinas capital, Beijing, disappeared about a little over an hour, but made a sharp left turn before been lost in signal with air traffic control.Its been over a month but over 20 nations are out in full search .
There are plently of theories on how or what happened, they already assumed the flight went down and all aboard are dead, but still, its debated on what really "might" of happen?

Some say the sharp left turn could mean some attack from another aircraft, a fuel or medical emergency, or perhaps a wing failure. They ruled out highjacking that was Perviously thought by the passengers with fake passports. It was also learned the captin was under a deppression that day and the signal had been turned off, some suggest he took the flight down along with himself.

What do you guys think might of happened? (I'd write more but I have to go()
