It's a good topic, some post have been made talking about it. What do you think of today's music and Tv shows? Honestly some music today just seems kind of off to me, Most songs I hear over the radio just seem like the writer didn't put any effort into it (a lot more with what they name it).I don't really find a song that often I like, There are some great songs but mostly in every band or group there's only one or two songs that stand out.Not trying to sound like an elder here but back then I really liked how everyone had there own style.Elivs and his guitar for example, He didn't have any alters. Now with all the new tect sometimes you don't really play anything anymore, your voice and intruments are just auto tuned so it's not really yours.People lip sync on stages instead of really singing.Even though that's what "Music" is. I liked it better when people didn't use techknowledgey to change everything. As for the Movies and shows I rarely find a show I like. Most these days I think were just thrown together. Especially The movies. What? there's is just way to much action movies and edited scenes. So many movies have just everything edited. And some are fine like transformers, It was edited a lot but it had a great story line not explosion explosion explosion Murder explosion.Black and white movies aren't my style but some of them are better then todays. So many shows today just get canceled because no one puts any thought into it.So many cartoons as a kid I just plain didn't understand and there were plenty that just had the same thing going on in each ep.Evil person does something bad, good defeats them.Even if it's good it's rushed. kind of just ranted there sorry.Thoughts?

I like movies that have bad endings, so it changes things up. I watched a few older movie with my friend a while ago and they were some of the best I've seen in a while, I'll admit. Though there are still good movies out there. As for music... No comment.

Todays T.v is garbage internet humor with no real plot points and random comedy that one forth of the time makes any seance. Rarely will I see a show that has some kind of plot that doesn't change entirely. Before there were cartoons that maintain a balance between humor and plot. Tom and jerry being a good point here. Maintains it plot well with the cat vs mouse slap stick comedy violence over some kind of trouble Jerry (the mouse) is causing for Tom (the cat) or the other way around. Shows now days can't handle even a basic plot that stays around for more then a few episodes. Then we have the shows like My little pony friendship is magic and Doctor Who, two of the best shows that air on T.v (imo) One maintains it plot while giving its educational lessons out without hitting you on the head over and over again about the same stuff you hear everyday and the other maintains its plot pretty decently into each episode and *gasp* refernces a past episode from a season or two ago. I'm sure I could come up with better examples should I spend more time thinking of the subject btu time isn't I have a lot to spend on this right now. Let's see the defense on that statement.

I don't like music period, so...
As for movies and TV shows, it just really depends on the genre for me. I've never liked comedy, mostly because the type of humor doesn't appeal to me. But I do love today's crime shows. I'm also a sci-fi girl, hence why I like shows like Doctor Who. I wouldn't say it's a matter of "today's" shows, but today's producers. Some producers just aren't the same quality as they use to be. But you still find ones who know just how to balance their episodes with the right amount of drama, sparks of humor, and key plot developments.

They are all terrible, except for a rare gem every once and awhile. I disagree. It's just a matter of finding the good ones.

Why should I look when I can listen to good music from previous generations?

Lots of things on TV shows r just plain wrong and desterbing as in WRONG! I find thing sometimes offensive and too personal and most of the time I find it awful. Music these days are just repeated too many times! I remember Gangnam Style was soo crazy and I found it fun too but they played it soooooooo much I just got sick of it. Some movies are pretty good and others I just ignore. The Hunger games was good as well but I have loved archery WAYYYYYY before all of the epic archery stuff today. and going back to TV shows, there is just too much mythical creature misunder standings. My friend says she lives in her own mythical world and every one is saying that now which drives me crazy. (no offence to anyone)
Oh and some books are another thing that bother me. Oviosly the WARRIORS cats are my favorite!

Have to agree to the wrong thing ^ You can go channel surfing without seeing something you don't want to see, One i don't understand is -forgeting what you call it- those shows where people follow others around and view their life's then make it into a drama show.Who wants camras around you all day putting your life on TV? and the chick flicks ugh to much lovey dovey stuff i don't understand why people watch it
Is it a matter (shade) but to make something good you can't rush, people these days (bands) put out a song every 3 weeks and they wonder why it sucks. Some of my favorite bands or singer even have 1 or 2 good songs and the rest i wonder if they were even the ones to write it.
reason the old days were better it that again they took there time, had their own style and didn't use tect to edit everything.Look at the Beach boys and the beatles almost all of there songs were hits (Beach had 40) when any group today is lucky to get 1.

@fuzzy: I agree on a lot of that. Especially the misunderstanding of mythilogical creature. Modern day has warped it so much from movies and books, they completely changed the image of some of them. Werewolves have gone from uncontrollable half-man, half-beast (it was wolf-LIKE, not distinctively wolf) that was destructive and murderous on the full moon, to people who can change into wolves and can control it whenever they want. Vampires have gone from old women who drank blood ONLY from young men and would blister in sunlight, to sparkly people who are nearly immortal and drink blood.
Also, interesting fact: The actress who played Katniss in the Hunger Games movies actually did do archery. However, the last time she shot a bow was nearly two years before the filming of the movie. They wouldn't allow her old archery teacher on set to check her form, so her form was actually pretty bad.

Some idiot made a post on the Harry Potter Facebook page. Guess what it said? Without the cussing and caps lock, they were complaining that the movies were amazing but the author butchered the books. They though that J.K. Rowling wrote the books AFTER the movies. The stupidity of some people.

I love comedy shows , like big bang theory (even though i used to hate it) and murder mysteries like bones or person of interest
^ Some potter fan there.
You know one thing I hate on any show? The comedy sounds like the audience laughter, the bon when something drops, the thunk sound when someone hits something. It gets really old.

When I was younger, fake audience laughter in comedy shows use to creep me out. It still does, kind of.
Crime shows are my favorites. I've been meaning to watch Bones sometime and POI. Right now, I just watch NCIS, NCIS:LA, and occasionally CSI, CSI:NY, and Blue Bloods. I also love sci-fi/fantasy such as Doctor Who, Once Upon A Time, Merlin, etc.

Quite frankly, I think most popular TV shows and movies are trash. They center too much on violence and other inappropriate things and have way too much swearing. Plus they often don't have very good plot. As for popular music, I love some of the tunes out there, but it seems like all the lyrics are about love and various topics relating to it. I mean, really! There are other things you can sing about! Be original for once!
Having said that, there are several not as popular and even some popular TV shows that are really good, such as Star Trek, MLP:FIM, and Dr. Who. I also have an entire bookshelf full of really good, sometimes old, movies. I've also encountered lots of uplifting and inspiring music in my life. It's just that the things that are actually popular these days are often trash. The stuff that isn't popular is often really good.

I can't stand shows like Family Guy, George Lopez, etc. The crude humor just doesn't appeal to me at all.
I actually don't like any of the now-in-day Cartoon Network shows. When I was younger, they use to have the good ones, like Teen Titans and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. After we lost our cable privileges for a few years, we came back to a totally different CN. Almost all the original, good shows were gone, and replaced with stupid stuff like Chowder. They rely way too much these days on crude, gross humor that appeals to the more shallow audiences. Gone are the shows with actual plot lines. Now they are replaced with ones that are total randomness (and not in a good way). Now that I'm older, I watch more adult shows (and not because just for the fact they're adult shows and I'm trying to be real "mature", like some girls my age) because the seriousness and plots appeal to me more now. I steer away from any that are too heavy with swearing or sexual topics. Obviously I can't get away from it completely, but I can find shows that have a very minimal amount (such as NCIS). I never really liked Nickelodeon at all. I think the only show I ever liked was Spongebob, and even then some episodes made me raise my eyebrows.

^ I've noticed, though, that some of the racism includes caucasian people. Not just Hispanics/Asians/African Americans (although they do receive the majority of it)
