Pip made a thread like this a long while ago , you post what songs youve loved or love now, regardless of how old it is. It would be preferable if youd post the lyric/music video for that song (unless they aren't appropriate then just the name of the song)
So what are your favorite songs?~

Perhaps my all time favorite song is "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, the intro (after the talking) always makes me shiver. I cannot think of another band that has impacted me as much as Pink Floyd, with the only other musician being John Lennon. [Other songs by Pink Floyd that I love are: "Mother" (If I remember the music video is nsfw), "Comfortably Numb", "Money", "Time", "Another Brick in the Wall", and "Welcome to the Machine"]
Another great song that I have continually listened to for years is "Hurt" specifically the Johnny Cash cover
I really liked all of Johnny Cash's album American IV (which features this song) and I would recommend it to anyone interested. This song is generally recognized as his "epitaph" which brings us to the next band.
King Crimson and their song "In the court of the Crimson King", a great prog-rock song. I have a few other favorite King Crimson songs (all from their first album I believe) including: "I Talk to the Wind", "Epitaph", and "21st Century Schizoid Man". I would say that listening to the album versions is a must, especially "21st Century Schizoid Man", the opening portion in the BBC session is dreadful compared to how it is executed on the album.
Unfortunately the studio versions are all taken down due to copyright, the original song is 9ish minutes long and you lose out on a lot of the song in this condensed version (but it shows the general sound of the song).
Now I will move on to John Lennon. I could put a song he has done with the Beatles however I would rather exclude them from the list (While listening to the complete Beatles discography I compiled a list of 129 of their songs that I enjoyed enough to keep on my computer. I usually go through that 6.2 hour long playlist at least once a week during the summer and I listen intermittently throughout the year)
Anyway here is an amazing song made by John Lennon for his son called "Beautiful Boy"
If I had to make a top 10 list of songs that I would recommend to anybody this would be it:
"Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd, "Jealous Guy" - John Lennon, "Watching the Wheels" - John Lennon, "Women" - John Lennon, "Working Class Hero" - John Lennon, "God" - John Lennon, "Time" - Pink Floyd, "Welcome to the Machine" - Pink Floyd, "Father and Son" - Cat Stevens, "Cats in the Cradle" Harry Chapin
There are obviously way too many Cat Stevens songs to list but his discography is great and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Harry Chapin is also progressive like King Crimson, but in a different more story telling kind of way. I wouldn't really recommend him as many of his songs are hard to swallow however "Sniper" and "Story of a Life" are particularly good. (Though my personal favorites are "The Rock" and "Mayor of Candor Lied")
I think I will make this a two part post, first this post including more international acts. Later (especially if this thread picks up) I will post my favorite Canadian artists, Blue Rodeo and the Tragically Hip among others. (Guess Who, Bachmann-Turner Overdrive, Bruce Cockburn, ect)

My favorite song as of right now has to be First Aid Kit- Wolf When I walk to/from school ill always listen to this song, I absolutely love it, theres a true meaning behind it but I like looking at it from my view and walking with it. (The original is hard to understand and the music video WILL make your head hurt as it flashes a lot) Right behind is one of Paper kites songs, Willow Tree March Paper Kites are an amazing group of folk/indie, a lot of their songs are very.. They can relate to pain a lot and some of them are tough to listen to but the story behind them are uplifting. This one one basically saying that you can't live your life trying to obtain things out of greed or treat others badly just to reach success, and what we leave behind should be something positive, not negative. Only you can help yourself by straying from yourself. Some other good ones from Paper Kites are Bloom And They are both (all of them really) are absolutely beautiful videos , with deep messages. George Ezra is also on of my loved song writers I love the messages and catchy tunes in his song , like in this one hes saying hed leave it all for his loved one. Also For those days nothing goes right, but eventually you'll come out of it. Mumford and sons, Fallout boy, and Passion Pit are also personal favorites, from Mumford and sons i love Blank page and cave the most. (This one now that I think above it also heavily relates to relationships between clan and their leaders) From Fallout boy I love many of their songs but Golden is my favorite (I love it a lot because it also ties in with one of my favorite series, The last apprentice, the main character saving so many lives and going all he can for people who truly need, thus holding "many karats" but because his job as a "Spook" is hated and feared among the people in turn they shun him and he is never recognized for all the good he does, and can never walk into cities or he will be battered by sticks and rocks ) And lastly Take a walk from Passion Pit This is a great song to actually take a walk to, venting or not venting it really gets you thinking. Adam Lambert also holds a few songs I love Runnin and Sleep walker I think some of you know Dreamworks movie "Spirit" that was MY childhood movie, I watched it countless times. When they played these songs (and a few others) id always rewind it. ESSPECAILLY this one, this song holds a special place in my heart The last two songs I really think need a mention are from the game "The Cat Lady" The cat lady is about a woman who lives in a beaten up apartment, by herself, there is not a single person on the planet that talks to her or has anything to do with her. She lives alone, lights barely functioning, but others call her the "cat lady" as she has a love for cats and they are the only things keeping her company. You role through her life and all the people she meets, once she dies she is given another chance at life (coming back from where she left off at that point a few hours later), at a cost, but gets stronger and learns from it each time and how to protect those she will care for. After all cats do have nine life's~ These two songs from the game (which I COMPLETELY recommend watching, its slow at first but picks up, (I promise) if you do watch it watch "Cry" play it. Its really emotional and will really overwhelmed you at points with happiness, surprise or sorrow. Warning though at points it can get bloody and graphic (the game) There are plenty more id list that I love ,older ones too but this is all ill do for now (also I just legit cant think of anymore off the top of my head ) ill post my favorite rock songs or other genres later

Most of the music I listen to as of now are parodies of existing songs or original songs dealing with the video game League of Legends. Here is my current 'favorite', which deals with the newest Champion in the game:
I will go ahead and list a few more, this one deals with my favorite champion in the game, Ahri.
Another song for one of my favorite champions in the game, Talon:
Now, there is only one more I want to post that deals with League of Legends. This one being for Sona:
Now, I will move onto some other music xD First is Mark Collie - In Time. Don't know why, i just like it.
Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed. Now, this one actually has an interesting story behind why I like it. It was added to my MP3 Player by my cousin when she borrowed it for a week or so because she had broken her Ipod. Well, I choose a random song on my MP3 player while I was reading 'The Last Hope' from beginning to end for the first time. I don't know why, but the combination of this song and Firestar's death just did something to me and I actually cried. I still have no idea what came over me.
Lion King 2 (Unsure of the actual composer/whatever) - Not One of Us. Once again, a rather interesting story behind this one. The Lion King has always been one of my favorite series, and to this day, I still cry over Mufasa's death whenever I watch it. However, this part/song has a similar impact on me as I really love Kovu as a character.
Now, here is the one that will probably get me laughed at a bit xD I have found an interest in K-pop, to be specific, the group SNSD (Or as they're known as in America, Girls Generation). I won't bother posting a video, as it is all in Korean and I doubt anyone here speaks Korean xD
Another thing i've gotten an interest in is Vocaloids, a quick google will tell you what they are. I'll post one of my favorite songs and then this post is done.

I noticed, never really had any motivation to actually make a post until recently xD And I can't answer that for certain since it's been forever since I listened to something outside of my liked playlist on youtube.

Here's one I recently found that I loved many years ago.
I was never into naruto but somehow I found this song and finding it again was amazing. The lyrics are deep.
Cultivate your hunger before you idealize. Motivate your anger to make them all realize. Climbing the mountain, never coming down. Break into the contents, never falling down.
My knee is still shaking, like i was twelve, Sneaking out of the classroom, by the back door. A man railed at me twice though, but i didn't care. Waiting is wasting for people like me.
Don't try to live so wise. Don't cry 'cause you're so right. Don't dry with fakes or fears, 'cause you will hate yourself in the end.
(repeats)
You say, "dreams are dreams. "i ain't gonna play the fool anymore." You say, "'cause i still got my soul."
Take your time, baby, your blood needs slowing down. Breach your soul to reach yourself before you gloom. Reflection of fear makes shadows of nothing, shadows of nothing.
You still are blind, if you see a winding road, 'cause there's always a straight way to the point you see.
Don't try to live so wise. Don't cry 'cause you're so right. Don't dry with fakes or fears, 'cause you will hate yourself in the end.

There's no way I could pick favorite songs, but in general I really like instrumental music. Some of my favorites (and ones I just randomly thought of):
1. The Piano Guys. They are simply amazing and they are my favorite group ever. You can find all their songs on Youtube. Some of them are original and some are mash-ups of other songs. Favorites include:
(Not that All of Me!)
(This song makes me cry, and this version is amazing.)
People always ask me if I like Lindsey Stirling when I tell them I like the Piano Guys. The answer is sort of - I find a lot of her music to be a bit too loud and chaotic for my taste, but they are pretty fun to listen to and some of her songs are absolutely beautiful.
2. Soundtracks. I love Les Mis songs. I have all the original singers on CD. I also love the LOTR movie soundtrack. And theme songs.
3. Studio Ghibli I don't know if you've heard of them, but they're a Japanese company that makes some really nice kids movies, and the background music is so beautiful and calming. It's what I use to study to.
Here's a whole bunch of their songs in a row.
4. I don't really like a lot of mainstream music. To me, it's just too loud and has a lot of bad language and bad messages. It's good for when I'm in the right mood, or at parties, or on long car trips, but most of the time I like quieter music, which is why almost everything I've listed so far has been instrumental. However, I also really like spiritual/Christian music. I'm not going to put any on here, though, partly because all the Christian music I like is so old/obscure I can't actually find it on Youtube.
5. I enjoy some 1980s and 1960s music. I particularly like the Beach Boys, though I don't listen to them all that often.
So yeah, that's my taste in music. It's a bit weird, I guess, but there you go. xD

Favorite songs? Hmm. Probably the following: Bleeding Out - Imagine Dragons Radioactive - Imagine Dragons On Top of the World - Imagine Dragons Counting Stars - One Republic Immortals - Fall Out Boy Centuries - Fall Out Boy Fourth of July - Fall Out Boy
In terms of non-lyrical music, I love listening to "Ezio's Family" and "Ventian Rooftops", especially when writing.

I feel like the problem with a lot of songs is it sounds like the artists are trying too hard to make it sound upbeat. Then it just sounds like someone took music and added a bunch of harder instruments.
For me, I have picky taste. I honestly don't have preferred genre, but alternate rock tends to be the one I like the most. I think what songs I like depends heavily on whether or not I can relate lyrics to a character in my book-- which sounds odd, I know. But unless I can fit a mini-clip of them in my head while I listen, then it'll likely not stick. Rarely does a song hold any meaning to me if I can't (likely because I can't relate myself to a large chunk of them). For instance, the song "Monster" (Imagine Dragons) perfectly fits my charrie Tony because of what he struggles with in my story; and whenever I listen to "Counting Stars", I always imagine it being sung by one of my characters about his relationship with another.
It's not a hard and fast rule, though. Occasionally I do like songs simply because of the rhythm, beat, or words (4th of July, for example).

Been a little over a month since my last post in this thread, so... Why not just make another one of 10 or so songs I enjoy?
Up first is Warriors - Imagine Dragons. I decided to use a cover of it since I actually like it a bit more than the original. *Found the song through league of legends like most xD*
Next is King For A Day - Pierce the Veil.... Don't actually remember how I found it, but I really like it.
Snake Eyes - Feint. Like above, no idea how I stumbled across it but I still like it.
Thnks fr th Mmrs (Thanks for the Memories) - Fall Out Boy. I don't know why, always enjoyed Fall Out Boy's music but I decided to post this one since it was the first I ever listened to.
Final song I will share is Let It Burn - Red. Similar reasons as above.
