The night grew long as the wind began to whistle through the tall oaks, whispering of things to come. The trees rustled faintly as a feline figure jumped out of a crooked tree, bent from years of fighting the harsh seasons. This cat had azure blue eyes, looking as though they were blind, grey fur with streaks of blue along her tail. She sniffed the ground, carrying the heavy scent of newleaf, as she padded through the forest floor. "Snowstorm, I know your there", she meowed loudly in annoyance. The trees above her, revealing a young black cat with a mangled paw. Snowstorm hissed in annoyance as he was caught, jumping down to her. "aww, come on Yearnleaf, I just wanted to come along", he cried. Flicking her tail in anger, she hurried off into the trees, followed by Snowstorm. "You should be back in camp sleeping, not following a senior warrior", she hissed. She heard a mumble of attitude as she ran. Suddenly, her blue eyes were filled with terror and she skidded to a halt, fur fluffed up to make her twice her normal size. "what is this", she said with a stammer. Her eyes filled with images of kits dying by warrior claws and she smelled the faint scent of Leafbare and blood. The images faded into nothing until she was left alone with Snowstorm. "we must head back to camp", she meowed urgently.

chapter 1 The winds ruffled her fur as she stretched out her back. The cutting winds only brought signs of Leafbare ahead. My mother knew when to bring me back in, even if I hid from her, even now. "Lost, got to come back inside before it snows", she meowed loudly so I could hear. I sigh as the winds began to die down and I padded back inside the NoFurs nest. I liked it inside the guarded fenced off area, where rows upon rows of flowers brightly shown, even now as snow is threatening to come down. I wandered through a rough grassed area inside to find my mom lying down in her soft nest, blanketed by small pelts that the Nofurs collect constantly. My mother is a brown ruffled, brown eyed she-cat who only has me as a kit. Whenever I brought up the other three that died, she would silence me with a hiss of anger before becoming saddened again. I even asked once about father, but she just sighed and said, "just wait until he comes home for you, then you will have an even bigger adventure", she would purr loudly. I settled down next to her as she made room for me to fall in, her fur ruffling my noes. I listened quietly to the beating of her heart until it fell into a soft rhythm that got me to sleep. In my dream, it seemed more of a nightmare, I saw cats flash their claws, gleaming with blood, slash open other kits' throats, a tawny and brown litter was bit down on as if they were prey like the birds. I watched in complete horror as this all unfolded before me, unable to move even as another cat approached. This one was grey with azure-blue eyes, eyes that completely made me shriek in terror as they turned red, seeing the same terror in that cats eyes. I shrieked out loud and awoke to my mother licking me with swift strokes, fear scent rolling off her in waves. "Are you okay Lost", she asked frightfully. I nodded shakily, trying to dislodge the nightmare from my mind. Whatever it was, it wasn't happening in her life right now. I tried to sleep again, but my eyes wouldn't close, eventually taking a stroll outside as the snow fell lazily. I wonder if father even sees us from afar, if he will come visit us someday. I decided to sleep beneath the tree in the fenced area they call a yard. It was no use sleeping inside, with the nightmare haunting me.
