(Whoops)
Mudsplash swished his tail impatiently. "Is everyone ready?"

"yes, Mudsplash. jeez, your irritable. I'm just clarifying some things so no one dies because they ate some weird plant or poisonous body part that they should have brought to me first." Cheetahfur replied, feeling a little put out by Mudsplash's negativity. "it's not a fun adventure if some one dies."

Mistpaw stifled a snicker. He chewed the herbs that were left out for him and let its stinging taste wash over his tongue. He shivered over it's vivid taste. "Eugh... Cheetahfur do we have to eat any more of those herbs? I really don't like them." He muttered. "Well anyway, can we go now?"

"hmmm...I don't know. I'm not sure if these herbs are found in the DeepWoods or not. but in any case, if we do need to eat them again, then we will." Cheetahfur downed her herbs quickly, not savoring the bitter taste.
"and yes. I think it's time we left." she smiled. finally, the adventure was beginning.

Mudsplash sprang to his feet, glad to have something to do to keep his mind off the invasion the others were on. "Lead the way, Cheetahfur," he said.

Mistpaw followed in behind, tracing Cheetahfur's steps. "Cheetahfur, have you ever been inside the DeepWoods? Is it really dangerous? Will we come out alive?" A trail of worry seemed to seep from his voice. He cleared his throat. "Not that I'm worried or anything, I'm just curious."
The clouds underneath has begun to fade into grass as they neared HeavenClan's hunting grounds. The noisy chatter of birds had rose a ruckus among the trees which spread to the lower half of the forest to the prey below. It seemed as if every living thing had become aware of their presence and where they were trying to go. Mistpaw lowered his head, avoiding all contact with any of the prey that had gotten more furious for some reason. From the corner of his eye, he could see a dark speck in the distance. It must have been the DeepWoods.

Cheetahfur padded along towards the DeepWoods, deeply concerned with the animals agitated behavior. " I didn't tell you that story? huh, i thought I did.ph well. I've only been in there once, and I wasn't even that far from the entrance, so not really. I just remember following this little path lined with dangerous plants, until the bushes rustled and something growled at me. I ran out of there before I could figure out what it was. I didn't want to take chances, y'know? I felt that what ever it was, I probably couldn't fight it on my own. Can't have a clan with out a medicine cat!" she rambled. "as for how dangerous it really is, I cant say, but since the Goldrose is hidden in there, I don't expect it to be easy in the slightest. and I don't want it to be! what's an adventure without danger." she turned to give a reassuring glance to Mistpaw. then she focused on the path ahead, stopping suddenly. "oh, look. We're here!"

Mistpaw's eyes widened at Cheetahfur's story, but he wouldn't let one little incident bother him. He puffed out his tiny chest and squealed "Finally we've made it! Com'on Mudsplash and Cheetahfur, let's go find the Goldrose! Imagine how popular I'll- I mean uh... we'll be in HeavenClan!" He let his excitement control him and ended up tripping over an underlying tree root and fell face-first. "I'm all right!"
The DeepWoods held a mysterious radiating aura of foreboding. He could hear the cries of voracious foxes from within and it sounded like this was their feeding time, or maybe it was just Mistpaw. The entrance stood out like a sore pad in leaf-bare at Sunhigh. Each branch was covered in claw-like thorns that jutted out like the teeth of a badger. Mistpaw thought he had saw a drip of something red fall from a hanging thorn but he assumed it was his imagination. He tried with all his will to ignore the pungent smell of unknown terrors that remained within. He stood closer to Mudsplash and Cheetahfur. "O-okay, I guess we can all enter one at a time right? Mudsplash, why don't you go in first?"

"Okay." He couldn't argue with Mistpaw's logic; he was the biggest, after all, and would be able to clear a path for the other two. But he wasn't looking forward to spending hours licking thorn scratches. He sighed and began to push through, thorns clawing at his fur.

(yay!)
Cheetahfur turned to look up at the entrance to the Deep Woods. The Deep Woods, as Cheetahfur well knew, was at the center of Heavenclan's forest. It had a huge wall of briars, thorns, thistles, roses, and other plants with sharp pointy needles fit to rip more than just fur off of any creature, if they stray to close. the sharp barrier surrounded the Deep Woods completely, rising up past and growing on the first three or four branches of every tree on the barrier. it grew and completely covered every trunk it grew on, meaning that there was no climbing in or out of the dark wooded area. Except for the entrance, or as she had named it, The Gateway, there was no other known way in or out. the name 'The Gateway' sounded funny and was kind of catchy to her. Cheetahfur gazed past the arch in the wall and stared into the dimly-lit, naturally foggy forest.
*FLASHBACK MOMENT*
she had only gone in the Deep Woods once, when she had first seen the light blue tulips that seemed to have been weaved into the arch some how without being uprooted. she had been curious about the, at the time, unknown territory. she then thought that maybe this was where the Goldenrose was hidden. she padded down a very narrow path before she started to see groups of Deathberries, Deadly Nightshade, and Foxglove flowers blooming and flourishing in the dark, foggy forest. she had heard the bushes rustle, followed by a deep, horrid, and unnatural growling come from where the bushes where disturbed. she became terrified and dashed back down the path to the entrance, a screeching roar erupting behind her. it followed her all the way back to The Gateway, but did not follow her out. instead, the growling began again, and faded as the creature went back into the forest, rustling bushes as it passed.
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
'Now that I think about it, every time I pass The Gateway, that's always how the forest looks. Dark and foggy. an unchanging weather pattern. It's the only place in all of Heavenclan that seems, guarded.' she thought to herself 'No, that's not the word. It's... gloomy? eerie? hmmm... I don't think there's a word to explain how that place makes me feel.' Cheetahfur did not want to encounter the noise again, however. at least, not alone.
(umm... there is a way in...)
Cheetahfur looked confused for a second, then began to giggle hysterically. she padded quickly over to Mudsplash and dragged him out before he could go any deeper into the fatal wall. "umm, hey guys, you can go that way if you want your flesh torn off, but if you like your fur where it is, you could always use the very obvious entrance marked with blue tulips." she snickered, beginning to pad toward the Gateway. "it would be lot less painful, I'm sure." the Gateway was about 3 fox-lengths high and 2 fox-lengths wide, laced with cyan and light blue tulips. it looked much more friendly compared to the giant wall of thorns around it. Cheetahfur could feel the tension and the foreboding feeling. it was like those small fires humans sometimes lit on the tall bee-wax sticks that would eventually start to melt. the forest aura was like the glow of the small flame.

Mudsplash backed out of the thorns and stalked past Cheetahfur, fur bushed out, head held high, trying to look dignified.

Mistpaw followed in behind Cheetahfur and Mudsplash. The fog inside of the DeepWoods made it hard for him to see. The thick fog was filled with specks of dust that floated in the air. If only someone were to have the eyes of an eagle, they might be able to see more clearly.

" Ugh. it wasn't this foggy last time. we need to stick together so we don't get lost." she said, pausing and looking back to make sure Mudsplash and Mistpaw were still there.

"Let me go in front of you," said Mudsplash. "I have good eyesight. I might be able to see better."

Mistpaw could barely make out a large loose branch above the Gateway that looked as if it would fall at the slightest gust of wind. He turned around and followed behind Mudsplash. His eyesight was rendered mostly useless by the fog so he took every moment he could to scent around and hear anything he possibly could. He wondered when the fog would part, that is, if it ever parted. Even through the fog, the woods seemed lonely and dark, like every creature and plant there had kept to themself. For a split second, he was sure he heard a SSSsssss sound, and he assumed it was his imagination until he stepped on something scaly and thin. He looked down and saw what looked to be a lizard- no- it was an Adder!
"S-s-snaaaakeee!" As soon as he said that, the SSSsssss became even louder, and sure enough, he could feel slithering bodies sliding swiftly under his feet in an endless stream. "Cheetahfur, Mudsplash! Heeeelppp!" Mistpaw remembered that adders contained deadly poison that could be lethal in even the smallest amount, and Mistpaw wasn't sure if there were any safe herbs around anywhere. The adders were now going up to his chest and they could bite any second now.

"Mistpaw! don't worry, I put some snakeroot in the herbs that we ate. if you're bitten, you wont be poisoned." Cheetahfur turned towards him, just barley making out the writhing pile of snakes. she hissed loudly at the snakes, her fur poofed out in all directions. her back was arched in an awkward position, a technique that she found pretty effective against cats, since it was quite disturbing indeed. she hoped this would scare off the snakes, but if not, she would attack and kill every single one of the horrid things. Cheetahfur hated snakes. the less, the better.

Mudsplash spun around, hissing. He was able to see pretty well through the mists, but of course he hadn't been looking behind him. "Don't scare them!" he hissed. "That'll make them more likely to bite! Just stay still and they should go away." However, Mudsplash couldn't shake a lurking feeling that these weren't normal snakes.

The snakes were now starting to slither up to Mistpaw's head, and each tail slapped the side of his face as they wriggled by. It was an inescapable fate of doom, that even if he were to try to move, he would be bitten to death, and if he stayed still, he would be buried alive. Mistpaw tried to open his mouth to speak but quickly closed it as a snake was heading straight towards him. Was this the end...?
"Hey! You might not want to move to quick, 'less you want to be crowfood later on." A voice called out. "I promise ya they won't attack you without a good reason to, so just relax and slowly move out of their way."
Mistpaw didn't know if he wanted to trust a stranger out in the DeepWoods, but he figured it was his only chance of survival now. He let his muscles relax and took a deep breath, following instructions.
"Alright now come over here. I can catch you all some prey later on if you want."
Mistpaw made his way through the hissing sea of scales and vicious fangs, cautiously placing each paw in front of the other. With one last step of relief, he got out of the way and caught the glimpse of a tall scrawny figure with a matted tail who was staring straight down at him and then looked back towards Mudsplash and Cheetahfur. He was a cat, a tom with dark brown fur and very dirty claws that were filled with soil and other miscellaneous things that came from the undergrowth. He had very deep dark blue eyes that stood out even in the fog. Mistpaw couldn't help but feel just a little bit uncomfortable around him though.
"Good job, now we just need your friends to get over here safely. This is about the time when the snakes are usually hungry, but they won't bother picking on you if you don't mess with them."
Mistpaw watched Cheetahfur and Mudsplash who were still in the snakes path.

Mudsplash hesitantly started to step over the snakes, moving slowly, alert for any aggressive snake movements.

Cheetahfur looked at the strange cat, to the snakes, and back again. she hissed quietly to herself, "I hate snakes." and carefully pawed her way across the writhing mass of snakes, almost stepping on one... or five. when she finally made it across in one piece, she shivered. then something occurred to her. "wait a second, who are you? its not that im not grateful, I am, but I've never heard of any cats living in the DeepWoods."
