<Chapter 1>
I find myself standing in a dense forest. Tall trees surround me at every side. I start to walk. Suddenly, there is a rustle behind me. I twitch my tail nervously as I turn around. I gasp in surprise. There is a slender, pretty, pale gray she-cat standing behind me. Her eyes widen as if She knows me. She approaches me and gently hugs me. My first instinct is to get away, but I keep still. In some way, she smells familiar to me.
"It won't be easy," she whispers in my ear. I Frown.
'What's she talking about?' As I think, I feel myself slipping away from her touch. Slowly, everything turns black.
I blink open my eyes. Golden sunlight reaches my nest, and I immediately notice that I awoke late. I'm Stream, a gray, blue-eyed she-cat. I'm six moons old. I live with my mother.
Why not my father? He died when I was two moons old. I walk out of our small den. Surprisingly, River is still here. She is usually out hunting at this time.
"River!" I call. My mother quickly looks up, her eyes shining. She likes being called River.
"How come you're not hunting?" I ask. Suddenly, River looks awkward.
"We're moving," she answers. 'Moving? To where?'
River beckons me to sit. She takes a deep breath, and starts talking.
"We're moving to a place called Dawnclan. There is a leader there. He takes care of the important clan matters, and leads his clan. The deputy helps him. The medicine cat knows a lot about herbs and treats the cats when they are sick. The warriors hunt and fight for the clan. They protect the young, elderly, and sick. The warriors also train the apprentices and queens take care of their kits. When cats become old, they retire into elders. Does that explain you? Doesn't that sound like a good place?"
'Wow. The stronger cats hunt for the weak?' I silently nod, my eyes wide. It sounded like heaven. River sighs in relief.
"Let's go," she says.
"Now?" I respond in shock. The den has been a home to me for all these moons.
"Yes. Say good-bye now."
Tears covers my eyes as I take a last look at my nest.
Good bye, good bye! I shout silently.
