Before the time of the no-furs, the animals ruled the land, wolves were against each other and only loners and rogues wandered the land. Some lived together in two or three but they didnt last long. Wolves were dying from fighting and none knew about herbs and healing themselves or about working together.
The Spirit of the Earth looked down at the wolves and frowned, she had come to learn about what was happening because the spirits of her beloved wolves came to live with her, they had no where else to go too.
She looked at the hopeful faces of the wolves around her, she had called a meeting of all spirits that had befriended her. She had an idea on how to help them all.
As she looked at the wolves lying around her, she looked at the different color pelts and smiled. All wolves were beautiful in her eyes and most didn't deserve the death they got.
"My friends," she started. "I have come up with an idea with what to do with the wolves that live on down on earth." She paused to let them whisper among themselves, most thought she didn't care or didn't wish to help. They were right but after seeing a nursing mother with pups die when they should have live she had enough.
"What did you have in mind mother?" said a dark grey wolf with white marking asked, the wolf's ice blue eyes flashed with anger. "You have done nothing to help before, why now?!" Standing up this wolf bared its fangs at the women.
A look of sadness passed on her face before she pulled herself together, looking straight into the ice blue eyes, she replied, "Why should I tell you? I brought you all here before me to ponder my idea with me and help me, but if you are going to do nothing to help and only growl at me I will have you banished from my home." her voice dropped to a low and dangerous growl. "Got it?"
"One, I wish to give certain wolves the power to speak with you all, you may help to guide them to the right path but only those with a pure heart and spirit can speak to you. You may give them signs and warn of danger. The same wolves will help the wolves learn how to heal using plants. They will be called healers and when packs and territories are made the will heal the pack they live with."
"Two, leaders of the pack must come before you wolves to get more lives, they will get six plus the one they already have to make seven. If they are not approved by you, they will not become Alpha. Alphas will decide how the packs run and work"
"Third and final, four of you wolves will be going back to earth, I have already chosen by what your life and actions were, the four chosen may be enemies but you will be different packs Alpha. You will remember none of your life as a Spirit until 12 moons old."
"Now when I say your name come forward to get reborn Frostleaf!" A beautiful slender she-wolf came forward and sat down in front of the Earth Spirit, bowing her head respectfully, she kept her eyes down. "You respected all life when you were living, you gave second chances to all that deserved it and killed all who didn't. Though you died young you understand more then many could in a life time. Your kind nature and fierce battle skills will make you a perfect Alpha female. Choose your mate wisely young one, your children may inherit your gifts."
"Thank you for giving me this chance." the she-wolf said before vanishing back down to the world of the living.
"Nightpelt!"
A big black wolf with white spots walked up the the Earth Spirit slowly, he was surprised that she had chosen him, he was not the easiest wolf to get along with and always wanted more of what he had. Why me? he thought. Sitting down slowly he stared at her in defiance and surprise, though he would never say that he was surprised.
"Nightpelt I know that you are not to be crossed in or outside battle I hope that your many years living here has taught you something and you will not do anything rash. I grant you life so that you may repair that damage that you did, do you understand?"
Seeing the truth in her eyes but not liking it the black wolf bowed his head and growled softly, knowing that if he didnt agree there was no way that he would be reborn. Eyes flashing in angry, he growled "My lady, I haven't the power or wits to try and decive you, I will not like it but if that is what you wish, your will be done."
"I will have my eye on you, should you turn to the darkness for whatever reason, I will know." In a flash of light Nightpelt vanished to the earth to be reborn.
"Redfur!"
Every head in the group turned to look at the back of the group of wolves that came. Some looked on with anger, others looked in awe and curious. Yellow eyes of the chosen wolf were guarded but some could see that he was scared but didn't wish to show it. Slowly he walked though the group to the front. He sat down and looked up after taking a deep breath to rid himself of the tensen that he felt.
"Though you are young, Redfur, I trust your abilities and know that you can do this. Believe in yourself and make me proud." Smiling down on Redfur as he glowed and vanished.
"Darkfang!"
Holding her head up high, a dark grey she-wolf with a white muzzle walked to the front of the group, there was a way that she walked that said she might be female but if any male tries to domant her, they will have scars to prove it. Her amber eyes stared straight ahead, never blinking.
"Darkfang you are chosen because you are a strong willed wolf, I know in the fights you will have, you will have a mate watching out for you. Give him a chance." Putting her hand on top of her head and her giving her a pat before she could do any more but growl, the bright light took her away to be reborn.
Sitting down the Earth Spirit sighed, she had never sent so many wolves to be reborn at once like that and now she was tired. Looking around the room at the remaining wolves she knew that sooner or later more would have to be reborn or else the spirit world would have a problem.
"My children let's go." Getting up she walked through the wolves and onto the earth itself. Only a few wolves followed her and for that she was greatful, though not many could follow her here, only the very old spirits could. The Earth under her feet weeped for all those who died needlessly, she walked everywhere and anywhere for she had nothing to fear but fear itself. Hopefully soon the wolves would unite and be one with all they see . . . . . .
