Getting images off Google and ilk are not free of copyright, as Google states during your search, "Images may be subject to copyright." Any images you find on the image can be subject to copyright. Do not use images you do not have permission to use and have no authority over. Illegal usage is using an image that is copyrighted without permission, even if you are giving credit/attributing back to the original owner. Art theft is when you alter or claim someone else's work as your own. Obtaining free-use images:A great place to get free-use images is www.flickr.com/To make sure that the images you are receiving are free, go to >>Search>>Advanced Search<< and select "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content" and "Find content to adapt, modify, or build upon." PlagiarismWhile it may be true that directly copying and paraphrasing and so forth may be considered plagiarism, it can come in many different forms. To use someone else's work without crediting the source is additionally categorized as plagiarism. When visiting the literary boards here at this site, please be sure you avoid this. More information: plagiarism.org/plag_article_what_is_plagiarism.htmlAll of the issues stated above (art theft, illegal usage, and plagiarism) are real crimes and you can be punished for it.
