Hello there, I am seventeen years old and have been a big fan of the Warriors books for a while now. I really love how every character has their own memorable personalities and they all mean something to the story, among other things. Anyway.. I randomly thought I should search for a Warriors game, and I found these! I've actually been thinking about making a Warriors game and how I would go about it, so I decided to go ahead and sign up for this forum and talk to some people. If you have any ideas for a more narrative type of game (instead of a turn based RPG) for Warriors, it would be cool if you could hmu in PM or just tell me below. I've made a few games so I am okay-ish there, but I stink at ideas! (Also if it is not okay for me to talk about a game I might be making, tell me and I will gladly remove this.) I can't wait to meet people. Please do comment and say hi.

Hello, Redwhisker. Anyways, I don't believe there is a better way of making a cannon Warrior Cats game (guessing that cannon is what you mean by "narrative") than an RPG game (if you are not using a software like RPG maker Ace, and using more general platforms, you can make it not have turn-based battle sequences). If done right, a table-top type of game (like NPQ from official website) would be another options. I think side-scrolling platformers aren't a good pick (looking at you hunting game). Can you expand on what you mean by "More Narrative" though? That many things, like it can mean more well done plotline (cutscenes, etc.) or Player made choices to effect plotline (interactive plotline, like the cliche can-only-save-one moments in games), etc.

Sorry, I suppose that was kind of vague. I'm still not completely decided on anything really, but I was thinking more along the lines of the interactive story sort of thing, where you make up your own cat and join whatever clan you want, and make your own story. That might be a bit too big of a project, though, so that could be one of my later things and for now I could just make something similar to this. I don't want to make any of the features of this kind of RPG (turn-based fighting, buying herbs for acorns, a cat having an inventory or magical powers?). Not hating on these games, they are fun, just not the kind of thing I want to make. I dunno. I wish I was some kind of master game dev so I could make a 3d open world Warriors game. xD ... some day.

For making a 3D game I would recommend using Roblox (also has built in multiplayer, which if you know what you are doing, can become an optional game mode). However Roblox has a big limitation (from what I can tell) with it's programming capability. It does, however have a big store for pre-programmed scripts that you could possibly use. If you want an interactive story line, though, you probably need a better engine than Roblox. Probably Unity 3D (has free version) or Unreal engine 4 (which recently became free Yay! Although you did say you were 17 so you probably could have got the education package anyways). Although Unity 3D has a bigger selection of tutorials, I personally think that Unreal Engine is easier to learn (partially because you don't have to use a seperate 3D modeling software that you'd also have to learn). So as a conclusion + extra details: Roblox is easiest (easy to learn UI, sandbox-like stage creation, preprogrammed scripts, etc.), but not really capable to preforming to your standards. If you want to keep the 3D story line idea your best (free) option would be Unreal Engine 4, however if it proves to be too hard to learn and/or you don't have enough programming exp. to make your own scripts from the start, you can do Unity 3D, which has a massive amount of video tutorials.

There's no way I would ever use Roblox for anything, especially making a game lol
I already know how to use Unreal Engine 4 fairly well, and I also am a pretty advanced Java dev (I just don't really have any experience with using my Java knowledge to make games), but like I said, the 3d thing is further down the line. If I ever did that, I would want to make an amazing interactive, responsive world and there's no way I can possibly do it with my current skill level. Whatever I could do now would be very disappointing. Hence why I am wanting to start simpler.
I'll have to think about it for a while.
