Hello everyone!
It's been a long, long time since I've posted anything in the stories section. Last thing was my own warriors fanfiction, which sadly I wasn't committed enough to keep up with.
That was back when I was a pretty horrid author and had no sense of proper formatting, technique, or my own distinct style.
Currently, I've started writing my own book series, and I'm almost done with the outline for the first book. It's been about a year and a half since my first fanfic (which you can still find somewhere in the middle of this section); most of you thought it was well-written with good description. I did too, at the time, but I went back to read over it and realized it's about as good as a cancer. I've come a long, long way since then, having written a grand total of over 60,000 words in fan fiction. If you can't decide how many that is, think of sixty 1000 word essays for school.
My literature teachers have said I show promise in writing.
So I know you're wondering why I'm sitting here flattering myself. Well, I know there are a few aspiring authors here, and thought I might (excuse how arrogant/haughty this sounds) help out.
I'll give honest-to-the-bone critics. Meaning there's not sugar coating and they'll be harsh; I'll point out everything I think is wrong. On the bright side, I'll also congratulate you on any particularly well-written pieces/plot twists, ideas, and character developments. I don't just point out the wrong stuff, I tell you what you're doing right, too.
I know a lot of you barely know me (due to my inactivity), and this entire thread probably makes me sound superior and arrogant, but I honestly just want to help. I wish I had a few truthful critics when I first wrote.
So here's the thing. I'll beta your writings, if you like. Beta-ing means you send me your new chapter via PM before publishing it. In turn, I then make suggestions on how you can make this paragraph sound better, or those words smoother, or this destination more detailed. It helps you learn the best modes of writing. I've read hundreds of writing guides; this is basically those, but more concise and better explained.
You can ask me to beta your stories, or critic and pre-existing one, or something.
So...yeah...//tugs collar nervously//
