You cannot have 9 cats and give them the attention they deserve :/
I myself have 4 cats, 2 for each household.
There is Varmy who is 18 years old (19 in June. We got him from a pet store when he was 6 weeks) Karma (5 years, we rescued her in 2009 therefore the age is an estimate), Panther (3 years, we rescued him in 2011 when he was a year old), Necko (2 years, we rescued Necko when he was 8 weeks old a few months after Panther (so he would have someone to play with).
Previously i had 3 other cats (not at the same time) - Basil (died in 2007. My parents had got him when i was fairly young so he died at about 10-12 years of age.), Milow (My parents rescued him from a chimney in 1999 or so. He died in 2006 but he had been very sickly ever since my parents divorce.), Olive (My parents rescued him from a garbage can (they where passing by and heard meows coming from it) when he was only about 3 weeks old. He died from kidney failure in 2008, they had rescued him just after they got Basil from a pet store.). Most cats i had at once where 4 (in one household) and they where Varmy (Eldest), Basil (Second eldest), Olive (Second youngest), Milow (Youngest).
When i was 5 i also had 2 Bearded Dragon Lizards (which my dad gave to his friend who happened to work for a zoo when i was about 8.), i also had quite a few fish at one point (Goldfish and some Blackmoor fish). I had also had a newt but he died when i was 9. Then i had a dog for a bit but that was while he was a lost dog and we where just taking care of him until his owner found us .(took a great while, something like 4 months before he saw some posters.)

But does she spend quality time with each? My cat Varmy loves sitting on my lap and when he is not sitting on my lap he is either sitting on my dads or sleeping on the bed. Panther is always sitting on a chair i have next to my computer and i constantly pet him, Necko is always by my mother and she gives him lots of attention and Karma loves my dad, she follows him around everywhere That is the kind of stuff i mean.

Its all she really does now is play with her cats, last month she only had 4 cats but then kittens came along into the mix.

My cat Daphne is always on my lap, so it's hard not to give her attention. But Dixie is half outdoor so we only really see her in the morning, when we get home in the evening, and most of the time in winter. I try to play with her and pet her as much as I can when she's around. But my mom is an animal rescuer, so we usually have more then two cats. ;D

Two rabbits, a dog, a bird currently. Formerly a budgie, three paralets (birds), two guinea pigs, eight fish, and two hermit crabs.

Not sure about every single one but there was about 4 or 5 people living there (which Is probably enough for each cat) Plus their ranch is not small at all and actually has a bunch of trees there to.Last time I was there the cats looked perfect and really friendly (she even has some raccoons that come and go ) most of them come in the house at night. Liberty loves lay on my lap (she's doing that right now ) She's the best pet I've had since ponyo and really loyal (when ever she won't come inside and my parents can't get her in and will just do a small clap and she's by my side in a second. She's the sweetest (I can even kinda "talk" or just look at her sometimes and understand what she wants) I wish you could see what they were thinking

Am I the only dog person here that doesn't really want a pet cat?

I always grew up with dogs. I'm just not a cat person- there's nothing wrong with them, I just wouldn't have one as a pet myself.

I do not really see such a huge difference between the two, personally i would be fine with both. (however some of my fondest memories are of my cats so i tend to sway a bit towards cats)

There's huge differences with behavior, personality, etc.

I find many of my animals have similiar personalities and with enough training they do not tend to act out and are very well behaved.

I think she means stuff like a cat loves yarn, dogs love chew toys.Cats don't play as often as dogs There different but you can change a rough shelter dog/cat to a behaved great pet, just depends how you treat them.both of mine are great (well lexie might snap at you if you wake her up and libby only will if you hit me or something)

(Cats have the ability to play as much if not more then dogs do, my cats go crazy everytime i bring out my lazer pointer and are still searching for it for hours after i have stopped playing. Unless they are just waking up they are always ready to play, one of my cats loves paperclips and whenever you throw one he will be searching the house for it for quite awhile. When we finds it he will usually knock it around with one paw and then tackle it until he losses it again.)

(why are you talking in parentheses?)
What I mean is both species natural instincts are different. For instance, cats are naturally more independent creatures than dogs, who are social animals. The laser pointer thing isn't playing, that's hunting.
